Sigh. Unfortunately I feel like most of these recent blog posts have begun with an apology for the length of time that's passed since the last post. In fact, it's just too embarrassing to even bother writing about our Christmas in Virginia almost 2 months after the event, so I'm just going to skip it and say that we had a marvelous time with Nana and Boom. The girls also enjoyed a visit with their 2nd cousin, Chris. And for the first time ever, they experienced snow falling from the sky; as you'll soon see, this was probably a good thing!
So here we are, back in Berkeley where it's been raining almost constantly for the past 4 days (that's how winters are here). We're coming off of a crazy month; Erick spent most of January traveling around the country for job interviews. As most of you already know, here's the happy conclusion of that exhausting process:
In case you can't see, Fiona is holding a brochure about Middlebury College, in Middlebury, Vermont, where Erick has accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Economics. We'll be moving to Middlebury sometime in June, which is both exciting and sad for our family. I've not yet been there, but this is how it looked when Erick was out in January:
Which is why it's a good thing that our girls did a little bit of this over Christmas:
In between Erick's travel, we had a wonderful visit from our friend David Cook, whom we knew back in our pre-kids NYC days. David and his family now live outside of Boston, where he's started up a church. The girls got pretty attached to him!
And now we're just trying to stay warm and dry, counting down the days (15) until Kiddo 3's due date. How are the girls handling all of these major life changes? Pretty well so far, all things considered. They're enjoying more and more moments of sisterly wackiness.
Occasionally Fiona escapes into her alter-ego, "Flamingo Girl." (Her own creation).
Middlebury's not going to know what hit it!
Given the imminent arrival of our third child and all the logistics involved in moving our family cross-country, please expect few & infrequent posts for the foreseeable future. I expect to make up for it in a year, when I'm housebound with 3 kids.
Happy New Year!
