Happy 2009! We are back in Berkeley after a wonderful Christmas week spent in McLean, Virginia with Fiona's Nana and Boom. Although this was technically Fiona's second Christmas, it was the first for which she was actually conscious of all the excitement. Because the week was so eventful, I'm going to have to tackle it in installments.
For the first installment, I'm going to focus on all the new learning experiences that Fiona had over the course of the week.
She learned how to subdue a large stuffed bear.
She learned how to wear a scarf with panache -- something she has not yet had to do in California.
Perhaps most exciting of all, she learned that vacuum cleaners are endless sources of fun.
Finally, she learned how to nearly break her two fully-grown and fairly competent parents through ceaseless wiggling on a 5.5 hour cross-country flight. Next time, we are definitely plying her with Benadryl.

It was such a treat to have Fiona and her parents with us for Christmas and to witness her endless curiosity and ability to learn so quickly, and to be able to teach her so mnay things, including how to vacuum our kitchen floor.
